| Dear Friends, I read the autobiography of Swami Vivekananda and something he said really struck me “If children cannot go to education then education should go to them.” Education for all and especially for girls is not only a human right it is also in the best interest of the society as a whole. We must remember, however access to education alone is not sufficient to keep girls in school. What girls can do with their education determines the attractiveness of it. Only education can equip girls with the confidence to make the most of their abilities.
At Bitiya we know what we stand for: that all lives have equal value, that starving children in slums are as precious as yours or mine. To prepare children to meet the demands of a new world, we must address the dynamic that exists between poverty and education. It is clear poverty is a major cause of under education. At the same time under education is the root cause of poverty. In any event Bitiya is committed to address these issues with energy and passion in order to make a difference.
On behalf of Bitiya, I would like to thank the people in our community who have supported us generously. I would also like to thank my colleagues and friends who have been a source of support and encouragement for Bitiya. Without your support we would not be where we are.
Together we can strive and succeed. We look forward to a productive year ahead and I wish everyone involved best of luck. Bitiya is truly proud of your contributions.
Sincerely, Sandhya Goel Founder
